Oasis on University Bvd | Curtin University
Oasis on University Bvd is a multi-residential apartment in Bentley exploring the importance of community connections.
The proposed development heavily focuses on creating connections between the individuals living in the building by accommodating diversity in household formations. The multi-residential apartment focuses on student accommodation, accommodation for couples and families, and multi-generational living to emphasise the importance of community connections. The building design focuses on innovative technologies alongside meeting environmental demands concerning net zero and sustainable modular construction. Prefabricated modular construction is one of the main focuses, as it can have many benefits. It also allows for the building to be designed for manufacture and assembly and disassembly and can be reassembled on another site. Oasis on University Bvd has been designed to deliver community and client value to the location. Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) has been chosen as the primary building material, alongside the steel module structure, to create effective environmental decisions. CLT is a sustainable building material that decreases thermal performance, increases design flexibility, has a lower embodied energy than conventional building materials, and stores carbon for the building’s lifecycle. Oasis on University Bvd has a high building performance across the whole buildings lifecycle due to the choice of sustainable materials and systems that assist with achieving net zero. The building design was executed in conjunction with one architecture student and three engineering students to understand the importance of multidisciplinary design in creating the most successful designs.
