David Chuter
David is the CEO and Managing Director at the Innovative Manufacturing Cooperative Research Centre (IMCRC), based in Melbourne. The IMCRC’s mission is to help catalyse the transformation of Australian manufacturing through collaborative investment, research impact and innovation.
David joined the IMCRC in 2016, bringing vast experience as a senior executive and more 25 years of international manufacturing expertise, gained mostly in the global automotive industry. Prior to his appointment at IMCRC, he was CEO of MHG Asia Pacific from 2014, and a member of the Futuris Automotive executive leadership team from 2001.
With his strong record of leading strategic business growth, operational management and change, David is a pivotal figure in the manufacturing sector. He is passionate about local industry and committed to creating a stronger platform for Australian manufacturing by championing investment in technology, innovation, collaboration and competitiveness.
David is a member of Australia’s Industry 4.0 Taskforce, responsible for the research and innovation workstream. He is also a Director of the CRC Association and a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
David holds a first-class Honours Degree in Manufacturing Engineering and Management from the University of Bath (UK), and is a Chartered Engineer with the Institution of Engineering and Technology.
