Bridging Generations | Curtin University
In an opportunity to bring a sense of home to the Curtin University Bentley precinct, Bridging Generations is a modular proposal with a strong community focus. Emphasising not only environmental sustainability but social sustainability too. Prefabricated and customisable SIPs and steel chassis modules stack together to create a harmonious environment to welcome a mix of generations to the campus, in a chance to grow and diversify the community. Welcoming more generations to the campus can be mutually beneficial as older people, younger people and families all bring different experiences that can be supportive and educational to others. Importantly on the university campus it can ease the shared isolation experienced by older people and younger students living away from home for the first time. Carefully curated communal and community areas are instrumental in forming community bonds and encourage interaction and socialisation among residents of all ages and help connect and tie back into the broader community.
