Privacy and Security: The exterior features a batten façade, serving as the primary design response to the client's brief for a secure and private environment. This defining element balancing the need for privacy with the desire for openness and natural light.
Refuge: The home offers a sanctuary-like atmosphere, with carefully considered spaces that provide comfort and relaxation including a swimming pool, leafy backyard, and upstairs bedrooms.
Sustainable initiatives: An underground water storage system promotes water conservation, PV solar panels harness reduce the building’s carbon and operational costs, and an operable sun shading system allows enhances energy efficiency by controlling solar gain and improving indoor comfort.
Strong architectural form: The bold rectilinear exterior provides a striking architectural statement, which contrasts internal sculpted ceilings and skylights.
How does the project showcase the practice of prefabrication/smart building?
The Bronte Beach project showcases prefabrication through its innovative architectural design and high-quality construction. It features double-height voids, integration with subterranean levels, and a high level of fit and finish, all completed off-site. The operable and automated façade, along with seamless integration with landscaping, exemplifies the potential of off-site construction to deliver complex, high-end residential projects efficiently and sustainably.
