Steve Appleby

Steve is the Digital Director at AECOM – a global network of experts who design, build, finance and operate infrastructure in over 150 countries.

As Digital Director, Steve oversees the development and implementation of advanced digital solutions, helping clients solve complex problems. He has the unique experience of working with both clients and supply chain, giving him a complete view of industry challenges and leading digital technology. 

Steve brings extensive experience to this role, including 7 years as Building Information Modelling (BIM) Practice Lead for AECOM’s Australia and New Zealand division. He has been member of the New Zealand Government’s BIM Acceleration Committee (BAC) since 2014, working with government clients to support the adoption of BIM through training, procurement advice and pilot projects. He has also advised on the Victorian State Government’s inaugural Construction Technologies Sector Strategy, which was released in March 2016. This strategy aims to improve investment and productivity outcomes across the infrastructure and asset supply chain. 

Most recently, Steve has been nominated to the Infrastructure Projects Expert Panel, supporting the Victorian Government’s Big Build program of works.

Steve's presentation will show how to link design, delivery, cost, risk and facilities management through a series of digital processes, including design automation, designing for fabrication and linking of cost management to model production to ensure efficient cash flow management.
