Gary Rake

Gary Rake has been CEO of the Australian Building Codes Board since January 2022.

He’s an economist and accountant, with experience across urban planning and development, asset management, corporate functions, consumer protection, criminal and civil investigations, marketing and audit. He has held senior roles in the private sector and within the Commonwealth, ACT and NSW Governments. He says his only real speciality is “grabbing the prickly problem that nobody else wants to touch”. Outside of work, he is a volunteer surf life saver, kayak coach and has just completed a 6 year term as Chair of the Board at the Canberra Glassworks.
