Australian Construction Industry Forum (ACIF) is pleased to welcome PrefabAUS as an ACIF Member, bringing to the industry table one of the newest and fastest growing sectors in building and construction – prefabrication.

Last month, PrefabAUS co-hosted the pre-launch of the Modular Construction Code, the first of its kind in the world.

Developed by the Modular Construction Codes Board (MCCB), it is a collaborative research project with Monash University, jointly funded by the Victorian Government and private industry.

We will all have our own view as to what we think prefabrication and offsite construction is, and whatever your view is, I suggest that it is unlikely to be wrong.

I'll outline five reasons contributing to the difficulties being experienced, but before doing so, I should acknowledge that this view of the difficulty in obtaining funding for offsite construction is not founded on hard evidence. Instead, it arises from conversations with offsite manufacturers, enquiries to PrefabAUS, and discussions at industry conferences.

The centre is seeking talented candidates who wish to apply for full-time scholarship to pursue a PhD. You should ideally have a background in Architecture and Engineering.

The successful candidate will be able to gain industry experience by working closely with the industry partner organisation.  More information
