Want to contribute to the digital transformation of building and planning assessments in Victoria?

Digital Twin Victoria (DTV) is inviting Expressions of Interest (EOI) from interested parties to help design their new digital assessment framework - eComply. The first stage will involve working with DTV to help guide the digital transformation of building assessments, starting with the Small Lot Housing Code (SLHC) and the proposed Cairnlea Townhouse Code (CTC).

eComply is a 3D building assessment framework that uses digital compliance tools to streamline the building and planning approvals process for new residential housing.

eComply will enable architects, builders and developers to check their designs against building and planning codes. This could speed up approvals and reduce red tape, meaning work can start on site sooner. It could also have broader application in the future as a statutory assessment tool to support quicker approvals.

They are looking for participants who are able to design and review residential dwellings in new subdivision areas using Building Information Models (BIM) and are familiar with regulatory codes such as the SLHC or ResCode. This includes building professionals, house designers and building surveyors. We will also consider 4th year architecture design students.

Successful applicants will have the opportunity to contribute to the design of the eComply framework and assessment tool, with testing running from May this year until February 2023.

Example of a digital development submission with a compliance report.

With Building Information Models becoming commonplace for new developments, this is a great chance to learn how regulatory compliance tools can make your work faster and easier.

Learn more the upcoming market briefings:  25 May 2022 and 3 June 2022.

Expressions of interest are now open

Join their testing by completing the EOI or email  digitaltwinvictoria@delwp.vic.gov.au with any questions.

Participants can be offered compensation for contributing house designs, providing feedback and engaging with the testing process.
