Innovative building prefabrication strategy completes school in record time
Buildcorp completes construction on $150-million NSW school in record time using high volume building prefabrication.
Buildcorp has successfully handed over the $150-million Santa Sophia Catholic College at The Gables in Sydney’s Box Hill. The Catholic Education Diocese of Paramatta’s new multi-storey prefabrication building, co-educational Kindergarten-to-Year-12 school will cater for up to 1,860 students and 130 full-time staff members.
Industrialised construction is ‘already a reality’
The shift towards a model of industrialised construction will transform the industry, ensuring it is better prepared for future global economic, climate and cultural turmoil.
Jeremy King, Partner, Pinset Masons law firm writes:
The Covid-19 pandemic has had a long-lasting impact on the global economy, further highlighting the precarious position of the construction sector. Industrialised construction methods can help contractors to make their ways of working more resilient, and there is growing evidence of their successful implementation around the world.
BDAA Joins Peak Industry Bodies in the Built Environment Sign Declaration of Commitment to Sustainable Development
Consumers are demanding action on climate change, and voting with their wallets seeking out sustainable products and green buildings—which we in the BDAA work continually to build.
Businesses, whether driven by profit or altruism or both, are motivated to meet this demand and do their bit but they are unsure how. In fact, many of the 632,000 businesses operating in the built environment (nearly 30% of all Australian business) do not have sustainable development on their business horizon—something the BDAA aims to change.
Samaritan House Case Study
FormFlow recently worked with the team at Deakin Architecture in partnership with Samaritan House to create sustainable, residential units. This collaborative effort was designed to install seven one-bedroom, prefabricated independent living units. These units are designed to offer a next stage evolution for men supported by Samaritan House, whereby they can transition to affordable rent independent living allowing greater re-integration into society.
