Metz Specialty Materials Pty Ltd
Metz was founded on the 25th of June 1953 by Phillip Metz. Our focus then was heavy duty industrial flooring and specialty corrosion resistant cements for use in chemical plants, power stations etc. Phil Metz opened a small factory in Melbourne to manufacture a specialised range of adhesives and mortars, for which we also provided an in-house installation service.
After decades of providing solutions for our clients in the most specialised areas of construction materials, early this century Metz began to offer a much broader, stunning range of architectural products. We now provide our clients with tile ranges that include multiple levels of slip resistance ratings, in many formats and designs.
Our tiles division has been at the forefront in supplying European specialty ceramic tiles for commercial kitchens, food production areas, and swimming pool tiling systems all of which require high-performance and slip-resistance. In addition to these well-established markets, this division has expanded over the past 15 years to include an extensive range of ceramic tiles, offering architects and designers a broad palette of options.
Our recently introduced facades division reflects Metz’s commitment to providing cutting-edge solutions that combine performance with sustainability, offering clients innovative products that not only meet architectural demands but also contribute to the environmental efficiency of buildings.
Metz facades have quickly become a go to for façade materials like;
Presto: Ceramic Cladding & Baguette systems
OnyxSolar: Building Integrated Photovoltaics (BiPV)
BBfiberbeton: Glassfibre Reinforced Concrete (GRC)
Today Metz remains proudly Australian owned by the Ellis brothers, Stuart and Ian. Our traditional industrial business continues to thrive, with an emphasis on export markets. Metz has expanded significantly since its early days in the suburbs of Melbourne, with three Australian branches and Ceramic Tile Design Galleries in Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney and Perth. We encourage you to come and visit these Design Galleries – todays modern ceramic tiles and facade products can often be appreciated in such dedicated spaces.
