The makeup of the Australian population is changing, and with it the needs and preferences of households. With an aging and growing population, the push for higher density and more affordable housing in desirable locations is in high demand. Apart from detached dwellings and high rise living what other options are available in abundance? This is where we see the “missing middle” of low rise, medium density options. These options include dual occupancies, terraces, and duplex housing.
With various state governments implementing roll out schemes to increase stock of affordable housing, and tax incentives for investment properties in affordable housing, there is a demand for fast, efficient and quality builds in this sector. With demand greatly outweighing supply, there is an enormous opportunity to implement Offsite Manufacturing practices to deliver these builds.
Integrating Offsite manufacturing practices allows to provide fast, affordable and quality housing at scale. In this webinar we will explore how Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) provides a feasible solution to the affordable housing shortage. Through real examples, and learnings from a manufacturer’s and builder’s perspective, we will see how structural, fire and acoustic requirements are met, while still achieving architecturally unique results.
