Please join us for our inaugural prefabAUS Talks. Our speaker is International industry figure Nick Milestone, Chairman of TRADA (Timber Research and Development Association) were he led the UK’s first ‘National Structural Timber Specification’.
Nick is also Associate Director at William Hare Group, a long standing family-owned steel fabrication business with annual turnover around £200 million.
Armed with timber and steel structure perspectives, Nick is uniquely equipped to present on ‘Optimising timber structures’ and discuss the latest developments in the UK construction as they relate to offsite construction and the take-up of engineered timber.

About the speaker…
Nick Milestone (BSc Quantity Surveying, BSc.Hons, Msc. Project Management) is the Group Director for Off-Site and Innovation for the Wm Hare Group based in the UK and the UAE.
Prior to joining in 2018 and following a brief spell working in Singapore for the Tiong Seng Construction Group, Nick was the Managing Director of B & K Structures Ltd (United Kingdom) and had been with the Bowmer & Kirkland Group since 2002.
The success and demand for engineered timber structures in the UK led to a complete change in focus, with the entire company adopting the name B&K Structures Ltd to reflect the new business strategy. The learning and innovations gathered from 20 years’ experience in the UK steel construction industry have helped develop a successful timber structures business utilizing steel, glulam, cross laminated timber and structural timber frame technology for the residential, education, leisure, commercial and retail markets delivery landmark projects for Blue Chip Clients.
Nick is a Director and the Chairman of TRADA (Timber research and development association) The UK’s first Timber trade association set up in 1934.
Through TRADA and in consultation with Industry heads such as Arup, Nick lead the UK’s first ‘National Structural Timber Specification’ covering the design, manufacture and erection tolerances for solid wood construction, other key publications include; The design and performance of Cross Laminated Timber.
Nick is the Chair for the working committee for the Mass Engineered Timber Hand book for Singapore, developed in conjunction with the building construction authority of Singapore
Nick has been in the construction industry since 1986, starting off as a trainee quantity surveyor progressing through to senior quantity surveyor / construction manager / Managing Director.
