Free FORTIS House Designs & Handbooks released
FORTIS has released FORTIS House - the world-first, community-led resilient house design to help people build better, faster and stronger.
FORTIS provides free handbooks for community members, designers and builders outlining how to adapt FORTIS House and its principles to any house design, site and local risks. The designs and principles deliver best-practice bushfire, storm, cyclone, flood, heatwave resilience and energy efficiency.
The FORTIS House project has been developed by the BBCA, supported by NRMA Insurance and the Shoalhaven City Council, alongside leading independent bushfire, storm, flood and cyclone resilience experts, engineers and architects.
To ensure FORTIS House is practical, adaptable and informed by real-life needs and circumstances, the FORTIS technical team worked with members of the Shoalhaven community who want to build better homes for themselves and help other Australians avoid the agony of losing their homes.
Prefabricated FORTIS Houses will be available and can be constructed in as little as 12 weeks, providing a fast-track building solution.
