CUSP Making The Future for Building

The future of construction is changing. Like every industry there is the necessary drive when it comes to construction to attain higher levels of efficiency in all areas of work and reduce our carbon footprint. In many countries, especially in Europe, the use of millimetre perfect mass produced in factory Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) housing components, has seen a shift in what occurs on-site. The use of CLT and automated wall systems reduces the number of trades on site and substantially reduces the time spent on site

The CUSP building solutions focus is whole of project and it starts at the plantation. CUSP uses CLT that is made here in Australia from plantation FSC certified hardwood. We are the first in the world to use hardwood making our CLT stronger.

Recognising that the construction sector accounts for 39% of the worldwide global CO2 emissions, as we move closer to carbon neutral economies the pressure on the sector to change will only intensify. Mass timber is sequestrator of carbon and its use in more than just framing fundamentally changes not only the efficiency of a build but also the carbon emissions of a build.

There is a reason CUSP has recently been awarded the Timber Industry innovation award.

Whether is it house, apartment complex, a commercial or industrial factory, utilising CLT panels is being embraced more than ever here in Australia as it has already been so in Europe and the US. We are currently working on volumetric and modular builds using CLT as a substitute for steel in floors, walls and rooves. We can see the benefit of carbon neutral or carbon negative site sheds and display suites as part of the big steps in the whole of building sector changes.

CUSP - we make what’s next.
